The Crows Nest Museum and Historical Village is a lovely small country town on top of the Great Dividing Range, only 45 minutes from Toowoomba. Our town has one of the few remaining ‘town squares’, with a children's playground and is surrounded by our business centre. The area of Crows Nest stems back to the production of timber, dairying, farming and the railway which was the early export hub. The museum celebrates the history of the area with 20+ buildings in a village atmosphere, each filled with local artifacts and curios. The Ray White empire began here in 1902, being the auctioneer in the pig yards. The museum has its original shed and Alan White’s family home is here too. Recently is the addition of the Tourist Information Centre and Museum Reception. This building is a restored grain shed from the old railway yards that were once in the centre of town. Visitors can browse the village seven days a week and can enjoy a morning tea or lunch for groups by prior arrangement. In keeping with the ethics of “everything old can be used again”, our reception shop has a variety of handmade items and souvenirs for sale. Crows Nest Museums' friendly volunteers will greet you, chat about history, help with travel directions, so drop in and meet them.
