One of Sydney’s most unusual venues, Rising Sun is a community motorcycle workshop and all-day restaurant/ramen bar in a back lane of Newtown. There’s a special breakfast ramen with bacon, egg and tomato, or fluffy Hokkaido milk buns stuffed with mushroom, egg and kimchi coleslaw. Choose between ramen and burgers for lunch, and at dinner time there’s a Japanese inspired sharing menu with dishes like prawn cocktail tacos, Rising Sun Caesar salad and chargrilled squid with black barley.
Sit on the upper mezzanine you can watch the rev heads at work with hammers and welding torches. Profits from the kitchen go back into the enterprise, meaning you can eat a tasty meal and help someone afford to work on their passion at the same time.
