One of the largest and varied Aboriginal Art Collections in Australia as well as local artists from all backgrounds. A place where Artists gather and are often painting in house. Established in its new format in 2008, Glenelg Art Gallery first opened in a small Moseley Street building. Now, a large slit level space right next to the tram stop at the beach offers a place to relax and browse, to meet Artists, ask questions, find a treasure or perfect gift. Run as a volunteer collective, it is a vibrant space and you are buying directly from the Artist so the larger part of your purchase goes directly to them, making this an important part of personal support for Indigenous Artists, who visit from central Australia, Alice Springs and Communities down through the APY Lands. A large variety of hand made gifts, jewellery, books, scuptures and paintings. Artists from the Gallery participate in all major events such as SALA & Fringe and include many Award winners as well as emerging artists. Tour groups, School groups and others are welcome to book a Gallery Tour, Cultural Talk or Specific Workshop ie: Painting with the Aunties is an afternoon painting with Aboriginal Artists and suitable for all ages.
