With a total of 14 hectares to explore, visitors can take time to relax and explore or tailor a walk based on personal interest. Established in the early years of the colony of Hobart it is Australia’s second oldest Botanic Gardens, established just two years after Sydney. The Gardens' are easily viewed over the course of a relaxed day. Tours The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens invites visitors to join one of our friendly guides on a 50-minute walking tour. Departing each day at 11 am from The Hub, these small group tours take in the Garden’s highlights, bring to life the stories behind its creation, and provide insight into the conservation work we do to preserve Tasmania’s unique species for the future. Botanical Shop We have many Tasmanian made products which can be great gifts to take home or for others. Our extensive heirloom seed wall includes a large variety of tomatoes, gorgeous flowers to encourage pollinators and a wide variety of veggies to propagate.
