In a world premiere exhibition exclusive to the Gold Coast, HOTA Gallery presents Contemporary Masters from New York: Art from the Mugrabi Collection. From soup cans to graffiti tags, artists such as Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Richard Prince and Jeff Koons revolutionised contemporary art, bringing a street-savvy and political edge to the New York art scene. With works by each artist now commanding millions of dollars, and gaining extensive curatorial cache, this is an extraordinary opportunity to experience firsthand the work of these artistic and cultural influencers. Drawn entirely from a private collection which rarely leaves New York, Contemporary Masters will mark the first time these iconic works have been shown in Australia. Featuring approximately 70 career-defining works, an exhibition of this scale and significance is the first in HOTA Gallery’s ambitious international program; announcing a new leading cultural institution in Australia has arrived.
